Training is an important part of CDP Bridgeworks and is offered at no cost to you. We encourage you to review the full training schedule and plan to attend as many of these classes as your schedule will allow. CDPBridgeworks Trainings

Back to Basics             
This is the basic training for CDP's nonprofit partners and is a prerequisite for CDPBridgeWorks' partners to attend other trainings and workshops. Organizations will learn the six components of organizational development and will be given the tools they need to address each component effectively. This training is highly interactive and requires active participation on the part of each attendee. Organizations are required to commit to action items at the end of training and are offered a certificate upon successful completion of training and action items. Organizations are encouraged to send the Executive Director, 2 or more Board members, and 1 or more key staff persons to this training.
 
Program Development
This full day workshop is designed to help you create stronger programs that will increase your organizations' impact on its community. This training will teach you how to take a strategic approach to developing programs and the basic components to be included in a Program Development Plan. You will leave this workshop with a systematic approach to organizational growth and plans for a new program for your organization.

Forming a Nonprofit Organization
This half-day workshop is designed to save you hundreds of dollars in set-up costs by walking you through the process of applying for your own 501(c)3 incorporation. You will leave this course with a solid understanding of the paperwork required, a step by step procedure to incorporate a new nonprofit, and the general responsibilities of operating a nonprofit organization. This is a hands-on workshop appropriate for individuals interested in forming a new nonprofit organization.

Image Development
This half-day workshop is designed to help strengthen your image and boost your creativity. This training includes unique ways to market your organization and use the media to promote your programs and services. You will leave with the fundamentals of creating an Image Development Plan and enhanced marketing abilities. This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Directors of Development, Marketing Directors, Board members or other staff persons involved in marketing and public relations.

Board Basics
This full-day workshop is designed to walk your Board members through the Best Practices of a healthy Board. Your members will learn about Board development & governance including the Boards' roles & responsibilities with regard to strategic planning, fundraising, resource development and image development. Board members will leave with defined roles & responsibilities, a guide for recruiting and training new members and a focus on your mission. 

Working with the Federal Government
This full-day workshop is designed to help participants create more qualified and competitive federal proposals by taking an in-depth look at the federal environment. You will learn about the structure of federal departments, where federal funding comes from, the federal budgeting process, federal requests for proposals, and the grants.gov website. You will leave knowing how to prepare, qualify and apply for federal funds, and understand the reporting requirements that go with receiving those funds. This training is appropriate for Board members, Executive Directors, grant writers and other key staff persons involved in resource development.

Mastering the Art of Grant Writing
This full-day workshop is designed to increase your success in seeking funding through grants. This course will teach you when to seek grant proposals, how to get organized, how to develop a skeletal proposal, and how to tweak it to meet the needs of either public or private funders. The scope of training includes developing unsolicited proposals, and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFP's) and Notices of Funding Availability. You will leave with an enhanced understanding of the grant process and an increased ability to develop competitive proposals. This course is appropriate for both novice and experienced grant writers.  

Developing Development
This half-day workshop is designed to help you get the most out of your donors. This course offers tips that will help transition your investors into donors and delivers Ten Commandments to help develop those donors. You will leave understanding the roles that your Board and staff play in this process and knowing how to get your donors more engaged in your organization. This interactive hands-on training is designed to be attended by Board members, the Executive Director and development staff.
  
ABC's of Fundraising
ABC’s of Fundraising is a full-day workshop that offers an overview of individual donor development, direct mail campaigns, event planning, and developing business relationships.  Attending the Developing Development Workshop is recommended before attending ABC’s of Fundraising.  This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Directors of Development, Marketing Directors, Board members or other staff persons involved in fundraising.
 
Volunteer Recruitment and Management
Volunteer Recruitment and Management is a full-day workshop focusing on topics such as how to recruit and retain volunteers, record keeping for volunteers, and the role of volunteers in non-profit organizations. This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Board members or other staff persons involved in volunteer management.
 
Understanding Budgets
Understanding Budgets is a half-day workshop designed to educate participants on the basics of non profit budgeting.  This training covers topics such as the benefits of budgets, characteristics of budgets, defining key financial terms, and steps for effective budgeting.  This workshop is appropriate for Executive Directors, Board Members, Bookkeepers and other key staff persons involved in accounting procedures.
    
Media Relations
This full-day workshop is designed to help participants gain the skills necessary to effectively communicate with the media.  You will learn about the different types of media outlets, tips for media relations and interview skills.  You will leave with vital information for presenting your organization to the media and information about skills necessary for effective interviews.  This training is appropriate for Executive Directors, and other key staff persons or board members who may be media spokespeople for your organization.
 
Technology and Non-Profits
This full-day workshop is designed to give participants an awareness of current technology and social media.  Participants will gain understanding about the benefits of using this technology in your organization.  You will learn about the different types of digital environments such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and much more. You will leave with a comprehensive understanding of how to connect and drive your organization using the latest in social networking techniques and have the information necessary to operate effectively in modern digital environments. This training is appropriate for Executive Directors, Developing Directors, Marketing sub-committees and other key staff persons involved in promotion of the organization.

Trainings will be held in various locations throughout the four-county region served by CDPBridgeWorks. Non-profits from any qualifying county are welcome to attend any session in any county.

Training Cancellation Policy


In the event of inclement weather, Community Development Professionals (CDP) will cancel scheduled trainings if school is cancelled in the district in which the training is being held.  If the training is scheduled on a Saturday it will be cancelled if there is more than 4” of snow or there is an emergency advisory for the location in which the training is being held.  School districts of current training locations are as follows:
  • Butler County – Hamilton City Schools
  • Clinton County – Wilmington City Schools
  • Preble County – Eaton Community Schools
  • Warren County – Lebanon City Schools
