2010 (Round 1) Subaward Recipients


3R Development - $7,000

  • The goal is to Reach out to the disenfranchised by working with them and assisting them in Reclaiming their citizenship rights and responsibilities with a goal of Restoration. The organization seeks to facilitate a holistic, all encompassing aftercare program for offenders, and families impacted by incarceration. This includes the development of support mechanisms within the family and community, the influencing of government policies, and the marketing of the ex-offender labor force to potential employers. 3R Development also provides community support and assistance to recovering persons, and other disenfranchised individuals such as those who have been chronically unemployed or under employed. While primarily engaging in case management and referrals for many of the services, the goal is to provide regular groups focusing on soft skills, career development, and financial resource management seminars. 3R Development also engages in youth development programs and offers a variety of assistance to small businesses and individuals, including technical writings.  
Biztech Center - $10,000
  • BizTech is a community organization whose mission is to attract, retain, and serve entrepreneurs in the Butler County area by developing and operating a mixed use, technology focused business incubator to further economic development and social welfare with emphasis on providing jobs by promoting and assisting the growth of entrepreneurship, young companies and small business.
Bull's Run - $7,616
  • Bull's Run Nature Sanctuary and Arboretum in Middletown, Ohio, is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the natural area of Bull's Run, striving to develop the park as an environmental facility and educational resource for people of all ages. Since 1979, the organization has managed, maintained, and developed this 11 acre city park, one of the few natural places left in the city of Middletown, and provided environmental education to the residents of the area. The park has 69 memorial trees, 3 mulched and marked trails, wildflowers, a butterfly garden, and a native prairie. Our naturalist and volunteers provide both on- and off- site environmental education programs, tours of the park, and public events such as wildflower walks, night hikes, and bird counts. 
  • Cobblestone Community Church was launched in September 2000 to be a church distinguished by its outreach and service to the entire community. The church's many programs and services focus intentionally on making a positive impact on the lives of others, regardless of their faith affiliation (or lack of same).  
Hamilton Joe's - $7,483
  • The Hamilton Joe's Baseball Club was founded in 2008. The club was named after the legendary Cincinnati Red's baseball player and broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall. The Club's name is also a tribute to his legacy of giving to the community. Our inaugural season began in June, 2009.  The Hamilton Joe's Baseball Club has been organized to provide area college baseball athletes and interns the opportunity to advance their careers and at the same time, provide our local community with quality, entertaining and affordable baseball.   
Middletown Fastpitch League/Blue Sox - $10,000
  • The Middletown Fastpitch League "Blue Sox" is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, with a focus toward instructing girls 6-19 years old in the game, promoting fitness and preparing them to compete at the next level in high school and college. Our goal is to promote physical education and sportsmanship, and to allow underprivileged and at-risk youth to participate in a quality, structured athletic program. 
  • OCAC's mission is to restore and maintain historic Oxford College as a permanent home for the arts in the Oxford area, to facilitate activities of the community arts organizations and to promote the arts and arts education.  
  • Reily Townships mission is to provide a place to receive and house appropriate artifacts and records, and to display these artifacts and records to the public, to campaign for and to receive, hold and apply funds, gift and bequests for the maintenance and operations of this institution, and to do any further acts to implement the purpose of this society.  
  • Stillwater Stables believes that children and teens need good mentors and a positive place to belong. They also want to reach at-risk youth, and are beginning a collaboration with the Clinton County Prosecutor's office and Clinton County Family and Children First Council to bring these children and teens into the program. But they also believe that all children need strong mentors, and as one local psychologist recently said in reference to the program, "All youth are likely to be at risk for something physically, emotional, behavioral or spiritually." Stillwater Stables is dedicated to giving children and teens the chance to build relationships, be equipped with leadership skills and the opportunity to discover their purpose in life regardless of their income level or background through working with horses.
